The role itself?
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the successful person will need to:

  • Ensure the quantity and quality of commercial, parent and experimental seed is produced within specified time frames and budgetary guidelines

  • Proactively identify and negotiate agreements with farmers who have suitable agronomic skills, land and machinery available to produce seed on our behalf

  • Work closely with our growers to coordinate the delivery of seed inputs and supervise planting to ensure appropriate planting splits and other agronomic milestones are achieved

  • Work closely with casual labour to ensure a high standard of hybrid seed purity, agronomy and crop hygiene is maintained from planting to harvest and onward to seed delivery

  • Engage with and report back to the senior agronomist on estimated yields, quality and harvest dates

  • Ensure adherence and compliance with all current policies and procedures at all times

  • Have the ability to operate all company equipment and assets accurately and safely

What kind of person will fit the role?
The successful person will have:

  • Tertiary education in agricultural science and past experience in the Australian agricultural industry

  • At least 2 years experience in a broadacre cropping agronomy, research or extension position

  • Current driver’s license including MR or HR license

  • Commercial Spray Operators License; Chemcert accreditation

  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail and analytical skills

  • A confident, calculated professional attitude with an innate ability to self-reflect and assess
