Farm Production Agronomist - Tree Crops - Bundaberg
An opportunity to join a large scale agribusiness that produces, packs and markets avocados and macadamias.
Who will you work for?
This family owned and run business just south of Bundaberg is the perfect environment for an experienced agronomist to continue to develop their skills and career. The business is looking to increase their agronomy team and is now on the hunt for a suitably experienced agronomist to manage all aspects of their tree production.
The role itself?
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will need to:
Work closely with senior management to plan and coordinate fertiliser and pesticide application
Undertake timely crop monitoring and reporting in conjunction with Junior Agronomist
Continually improve and develop crop protection programming in line with industry best practise
Recommend crop protection requirements, in line with programmed schedule
Monitor and report weed populations and recommend best control methods
Manage and coordinate trials for all crops, liaising with stakeholders and evaluating results
Ensure compliance with relevant accreditation
Construct and deliver on-going qualitative analysis and respective reporting
Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, legislation and regulations
What kind of person will fit the role?
The successful person will have:
Proven experience in a large scale horticultural cropping environment; preferably tropical tree crops
Experience in a dynamic production environment with the ability to make decisions and troubleshoot in a fast paced business
Proven ability to plan tasks, delegate and report as part of an agronomic team
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with people from different backgrounds
Tertiary qualifications in agricultural science (agronomy) is vital
