Packhouse Manager - Queensland Coast - FILLED BY US!
An opportunity to join a very reputable business that is known for producing, packing and marketing a high value tree crop.
Who will you work for?
This family owned and run business just south of Bundaberg is the perfect environment for an agribusiness professional to continue to develop their skills and career. Due to growth, the business is looking for a suitably experienced person to manage the day-to-day operations of the packhouse. This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operations and processes involved in the packing of fresh produce through the facility and for delivery of quality, consistency and reliability.
The role itself?
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will need to:
Ensure that the Packhouse is run efficiently and effectively, taking into account the quality and quantity of fruit on order / being packed and report regularly to Management
Liaise with Marketing Company & Farm Managers to forecast yield, picking & packing requirements. Manage capacity of Greening Rooms and stock supply accordingly
Ensure fruit packed meets customer quality standards & packing specifications.
Ensure QA manual is followed, and all paperwork is completed by the appropriate staff member
Provide feedback to Farm Managers / Growers when fruit received is not meeting required quality or size standards
Make recommendations to management for improvements to operations, in line with a culture of continuous improvement
Ensure that all staff within the Packhouse adhere to safe work practices at all times and follow the Workplace Health & Safety policy
Ensure compliance with all other relevant policies, procedures, legislation and regulations
Ensure team members are safe, productive, inducted & appropriately skilled to do their work
What kind of person will fit the role?
The perfect person for this position fulfils the following criteria:
Proven experience in the supervision of efficient modern production lines and management of teams in a large production environment
Proven experience in warehouse/inventory management systems
Experience in a dynamic production environment with the ability to make decisions and troubleshoot in a fast paced business
Proven ability to plan tasks and roster working hours in accordance with production requirements
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with people from different backgrounds
Tertiary qualifications in production, agribusiness or business management would be considered desirable, but not essential
