Farm Production Manager - Southern Queensland
An opportunity to join a thriving horticultural production business that has developed a reputation for growing quality tomatoes and capsicums.

This is an outstanding farming business that has continued to grow on the back of having access to quality water, commended growing techniques and good strategic leadership. They are a leading national producer based in Southern Queensland who specialise in growing tomatoes and capsicums (with trials of new lines always in the ground) for major and independent supermarket chains, metropolitan markets Australia wide as well as export markets throughout Asia.
The role itself?
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Plan daily/weekly/monthly requirements of farming operations, with Management Team
Control costs of production, in line with budget expectations
Record and report on required data
Supervise and ensure the ongoing training of farm staff as per KPF expectations
Work with the KPF management team to produce crops that meet yield, quality and cost objectives
Manage buildings, sheds, equipment and facilities and general farm areas to ensure health and produce standards are of the high quality
Plan required pest management tasks in order to maintain crop safety, with KPF Agronomist
Ensure safe and effective handling of equipment (WHS) by ensuring all staff operate under KPF standards
Undertake activities to minimise environmental degradation. Monitor environmental effects of farming activities and repair existing damage
Keep open lines of communication between yourself, the Operations Manager and the Business Manager to ensure production runs smoothly and without preventable disruptions
Prepare reports/presentations for recurring meetings with Management team plus General Manager and/or Managing Director
What kind of person will fit the role?
The perfect person for this position would currently be able to describe themselves as:
Having a minimum of 5 years proven ability in the farm management field, especially managing staff
Having the necessary planning and organisational skills to achieve financial and production targets
Being self-motivated and able to communicate effectively at all levels both within and outside the Company
Feeling confident in promoting and projecting a positive attitude towards KPF and its objectives
Having a current Australian full driver’s licence. Fork lift licence and MR truck licence an advantage, not essential.
