Avocado Farm Manager - Bundaberg - FILLED BY US!

 

An opportunity to join a diversified avocado farming business that is maturing into something very special in the Bundaberg region.

Who will you work for?
This is a diversified agribusiness and one that is going to capitalise on 500 acres of potential avocado production just outside of Bundaberg before the turn of the decade. From humble beginnings as a small avocado orchard/internal nursery this business is growing and is on track to reach full potential as a corporate sized but family owned/run orchard and nursery.

The role itself?
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day activities of all farm staff
  • Co-ordinating, delegating and managing all pest & disease, irrigation, production, picking and packing activities
  • Co-ordinating all repairs and maintenance on farming infrastructure including machinery, buildings and irrigation systems
  • Engaging with all farm staff in order to ensure that they are professionally developed, trained and stimulated
  • Working closely with all farm staff to ensure that they are meeting business, management and personal expectations
  • Overseeing and co-ordinating the development of new infrastructure including nursery buildings, orchard, sheds pump sites 
  • Co-managing alongside the general manager all new orchard developments, plantings, machinery developments, contractor engagements & staffing
  • Liaising with the general manager to develop, communicate and implement harvest forecasts 
  • Ensuring the farm/orchard/nursery is a safe environment and one that adheres to WH&S regulations

What kind of person will fit the role?
The perfect person for this role will have qualifications in either ag science, logistics or business management, as well as proven experience in irrigation, cropping, machinery and farm management. As you will be working as part of an established management team, it is extremely important that you have an ability to communicate, collaborate and lead.
