Who will you work for?
This family owned and run business just 15mins from Bundaberg CBD has gone from strength to strength over the last 5 years. The general manager has developed a positive, encouraging and supportive work environment for an ever-growing team that contribute daily to improving production across the orchard and nursery. As part of this business, you will be given a chance to learn, grow and develop your skills in people and process management whilst contributing to the on-going improvement of the current nursery operations. 

The role itself?
Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Management of staff and training in procedures; including time management and existing/future protocols

  • Management of all planting, spacing, grafting, bagging out, dispatch preparation and all disease & nutrition management within the nursery

  • Creating and further developing all procedures including written, oral and video training aids

  • Maintaining all data recording and information flows from the office to staff

  • Determining staffing requirements and request through employment channels for changes through reports

  • Managing the entire nursery production process to ensure orders are completed in a timely & efficient manner

  • Liaising daily with the general manger for schedule of orders and availability of stock

  • Communicating with the general manger around all new development plans and requirements

  • Planning for the purchases of stock

  • Providing daily reporting of nursery status and schedule anomalies to the office and general manger

  • Ensuring WH&S standards are developed, implemented and maintained

What kind of person will fit the role?
The perfect person for this operations management position would have university qualifications in ag science, logistics or business management, along with previous and on-going experience in a production environment. As you will be working as part of an established yet growing team of 20-25 people, it is extremely important that you have an ability to communicate, collaborate and lead. Along with these skills it is vital that you enjoy working in a positive, forward thinking and productive agricultural environment.
