An opportunity to join a local team who provide agricultural services and products across irrigation, nutrition and crop protection. As a member of this business, you will engage with local growers, consultants and industry stakeholders who operate in avocados, macadamias, fruit & vegetables, peanuts, soybeans and sugar cane.

They are proud to be a large and diverse family business that is known for being particularly innovative in irrigation (where they have manufacturing capabilities), crop nutrition and crop protection.   

The role itself?
This is an opportunity to work out of the branch located in Bundaberg. As a part of the agronomy services team, you will be the technical lead, providing support to the internal sales team and farmers alike. Your day to day activities in this role will include: 

  • Improvement of average yield in target crops using commercially viable strategies

  • Insect, weed & disease monitoring/diagnostics

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with management, colleagues, supplier partners, and farming clients

  • Work closely with supplier partners to ensure leadership and participation in trials of new products & services

  • Facilitate in-field/on-farm trial programs; plan, prepare, implement, analyse & report

  • Dissemination of agronomy information to colleagues, supplier partners & customers using various communication platforms

  • Develop and maintain close customer relations with key clients by providing professional agronomic service and advice

  • Arrange and coordinate technical and marketing activities, these may include field days, farmer meetings, demonstration trials and trial sites

What kind of person will fit the role?
It is vital that you have tertiary qualifications in agricultural science and/or agronomy. It is important that you have at least 3 years experience as a horticultural agronomist in Australia or New Zealand. We are going to employ a person that has a proven ability to establish, maintain and develop relationships that will lead to high levels of farmer support and the on-going improvement of the business.
