Research and Operations Manager - Southern QLD

The role itself?
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the successful person will need to:

  • Provide agronomic advice for all farm users

  • Manage the development and maintenance of an agronomic based Farm Plan

  • Manage land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and other hands on activities at the Research Farm

  • Provide pest control advice and implement the scheduled pest control activities in a timely, accurate and effective manner

  • Provide advice on irrigation scheduling and ensure the scheduled irrigation activities are carried out in a timely, accurate and effective manner

  • Develop a capital improvement plan that matches requirements and best practice

  • Ensure adherence and compliance with all current policies and procedures at all times

  • Have the ability to operate all company equipment and assets accurately and safely

  • Manage support staff and provide opportunities so they can learn, improve and develop both themselves and in their role

What kind of person will fit the role?
To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Tertiary education in agricultural science and past experience in the Australian agricultural industry

  • At least 3 years experience in a farm management, broadacre cropping agronomy, research or extension position

  • Current driver’s license including MR or HR license

  • Commercial Spray Operators License; Chemcert accreditation; High Risk Work License – Forklift Operation

  • A person with strong accuracy, attention to detail and analytical skills

  • A confident, calculated professional with an innate ability to self-reflect and assess

  • High level analytical and problem solving abilities with excellent time, organisational and people management skills
