Agronomy Support & Storage Analyst - Victoria - FILLED BY US!

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person that can advance the alignment and integration of the partner grower program.

Who will you work for?
Since 1950, this global business has grown and developed to now be one of the world’s largest producers and processors of potato products. Locally, the business operates with a medium sized agronomy team that work closely with their grower network to provide the appropriate support and guidance to ensure optimal quality and production. This support continues right through to storage and processing of the raw product at various sites across the country.

The role itself?
Reporting to the Head of Agronomy, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing, updating and reporting on the stored potato crop in all company owned and contracted storage facilities

  • Implementing best storage management practices for all types of storage facilities based on solid scientific principles and optimised for local crop and storage conditions

  • Managing the alignment and integration of the strategic growers’ raw supply with plant operations mitigating risk and optimizing efficiency

  • Actively engaging with the international community of potato storage expertise, including LW Global potato storage managers and experts, and stay abreast on the latest technological developments and applications in potato storage systems and stored crop management solutions, including sprout control means and application methods

  • Working with all growers in Australia to support continuous improvement in crop productivity and financial performance by the strategic growers producing for Lamb Weston

  • Building and supporting the growers’ relationship with Lamb Weston by being an effective liaison between the plant operations and the growers

  • Collecting and analysing growing expenses of the strategic growers and develop representative cost-to-grow budgets

  • Advising strategic growers on key crop management decisions, support the introduction of crop management decision support technology and systems, and help solve problems

  • Working with LW local and global agronomy and variety development departments to introduce agronomy recommendations that will improve individual strategic growers’ productivity and financial performance and build sustainable, best practices for each variety and region

  • Working with manager and plant operations to properly assign production acres and optimum variety mix

  • Undertaking field sampling in line with QA requirements

What kind of person will fit the role?
The successful applicant will have:

  • A degree in Ag Business, Agronomy, Soils, Crop Science, or a closely related field

  • Proven grower relationship management and ability to teach and coach

  • Effective verbal, two-way communication skills with proven ability to connect with people

  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and an aptitude for data, data analysis and data interpretation Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously
